Volunteer Job Descriptions
Clerk of Course - Lines the swimmers up on benches prior to their races in a designated area of the pool so that they are ready for their events. Make sure swimmers are at the starting blocks at the appropriate time for their races.
Stroke/Turn Judge - Works with other teams stroke/turn judges at each meet to insure that stroke protocols are being followed by swimmers. Requires some training. Here is the link to the YouTube training videos. It takes about 40 minutes to complete all 7 short videos.
Head Timer - Ensures all timers are ready. Signals to Event Starter that everyone is ready.
Runner - Takes race results information from timers to scorers table. Also obtains any disqualification forms from Stroke Judges and discreetly gives to scorer. Distributes Heat Winner ribbons.
Computer Operator - Enters swimmers times into software program and prints the ribbons. Requires some training.
Timer- Use a stop watch in assigned lanes to determine the finish times in the races.
Meet Set up - Set up/take down speakers at home meets, create Spotify play list and works with the Home Meet Chair to make sure all other meet set up items are complete.
Concession Committee - Assists the concession chair by maintaining the concession area during the meets.
Parking Attendants - Assist guests in parking in our lot before the meet - 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Hurricane Man - Wears the team mascot uniform at home meets, leads the team through the spirit tunnel and distributes hurricane food.
Volunteer Check in- Checks in volunteers at home meets
Ribbon Writer- Gets all ribbons from computer table, applies labels and organizes by swimmer. This is an end-of-the-night job...Best suited for people who have kids swimming in the last relays.
Meet Clean Up - Stays until pool deck is clear, takes out trash, sweeps if needed, and puts chairs back in place.
