Family Commitment: Time
You can expect to practice every day once the season starts. Our swim season runs from mid-May until the end of season in June. Before the public schools are out, we will practice in the afternoons Monday - Thursday. After CMS is out of school, practices switch to the mornings (Monday - Friday).
At the beginning of practice all ages will have dryland. Please make sure to send your child in sneakers to practice. Flip Flops will not be allowed during dryland.
Swim meets are on Monday and Thursday evenings. We typically have 6 swim meets in the season (3 at home and 3 away). At a Home meet, swimmers typically arrive around 4:30-5:00 for warm-ups. The actual meet begins at 6 pm and lasts until 9-10 pm. Some factors affecting the length of a swim meet are weather conditions and volunteer participation. Without volunteers, the meet will not happen.
We hope to have a social committee that will offer events for swimmers and their families to participate in, most at little to no cost. Please stay tuned . . . .
Family Commitment: Attendance
Summer swim leagues are fun! We hope to foster a strong team environment. While we know everyone has different vacation schedules, as well as other commitments, we hope you will be able to attend as many practices, meets, and social events as possible.
It is not necessary to alert your coach if you are going to miss a scheduled practice. However, if you cannot attend a meet (or will arrive late/leave early), we ask that you submit this information on the website.
Families are expected to fulfill their Volunteer Commitment. You can choose to work 2 whole meets or 4 half meets. Beginning this year, we are offering to fill your volunteer slots for you. If you have trouble getting to the meets on time, or have smaller children that need supervision, you will have the option to pay a one time up front fee of $150 and we will use your payment to schedule workers for you. Please click on the Volunteering tab for further information.
